John Dickens (1785-1851)

Charles’ father was a Clerk in the Navy pay office. He loved the good life even though he didn’t have the money for it. He got married to a young lady by name of Elizabeth Borrow and had eight children. He was arrested because of debt and was sent to prison. Charles’ loved his father. His father was inspired when he wrote the autobiographical novel David Copperfield. as the character Mr. Micawber.

Siblings

 

Frances Elizabeth (Fanny) Dickens (1810-1848) The older sister, sources say that he was the closes to her during his childhood.

Alfred Allen Dickens (1813-1814) Dickens' younger brother who died in infancy.
Letitia Mary Dickens (1816-1893) Younger sister, Letitia married architect and artist Henry Austin in 1837. When Henry died in 1862 Charles secured a government pension for Letitia.
